SisterReach Awarded State & National Funding Support

Healthy & Free Tennessee (HAFT)
SisterReach has been funded to provide Reproductive Justice trainings to HAFT and and state-wide partners of the coalition. Funding support has been provided through the National Institute for Reproductive Health awarded to Healthy & Free TN January 2013.

Advocates for Youth
SisterReach was one of four Reproductive Justice organizations in the country chosen to receive the Advocates for Youth Millenials of Color Technical Support Grant of $1,000! Funds will be used toward the redesign of SisterReach’s current website to support our youth education and policy initiative Choose2Wait. Choose2Wait offers media based reproductive and sexual health education and offers young people an outlet to share their stories through poems, essays, music, and regarding how THEY feel regarding local and state policies directly impacting them like sex education, immigration, youth violence and sexual assault. SisterReach is invested in supporting young people’s self determination with the understanding that without young people’s buy in to issues effecting their lives, our efforts as adults are only temporal.

Tennessee Board of Regents/University of Memphis
SisterReach in partnership with the Department of Sociology at University of Memphis are the proud recipients of the Access & Diversity Student Outreach and Success grant funded through the TN Board of Regents. The collaborative program B.R.A.V.E. (Bridging Resources to Achieve Victories in Education) will offer a campus and community based education and support to ensure women of color enroll and complete their educational career at the University of Memphis. The program offers educational and social investment opportunities through a reproductive justice frame as a catalyst to support young women of color pursuing and completing their education. The partnership was awarded $103,700 toward this critical endeavor.

Special thanks to all of our funders for recognizing the need for Reproductive Justice in the state of Tennessee and funding SisterReach to support women and girls to lead healthy lives, raise healthy families, and live in healthy communities!
